MARCH 2007

March has been a busy old month for Spinnoff. The Wheelbase demo day kicking things off with a brilliant weekend of top bike testing. Thanks to all the suppliers for providing the bikes and to Wheelbase for having the idea and getting us involved.

The usual bookings came in for us and St. Martin's College in Ambleside got in touch to offer us some funded training which will help with the development of 3 new riders and 1 existing member of the team.

We ran a big ride for Lakeland Limited on the 19th, which was organised by Holmescales as part of a multi-activity day focused on team building for their managers. Running to a very tight schedule, we were pleased with the event and it was great to bring members of the Lakeland team together from around the country and show them the area from a cycling perspective.

Planning wise, we've been busy finalising things with Holmescales and trail building has commenced at the site. Read on below...

HOLMESCALES MTB CENTRE...

FREERIDE SKILLS AREA, X-C TRAIL, SKILLS LOOP, DOWNHILL ROUTE

As a result of ongoing discussions with the visionary owner of Holmescales, Matthew Robinson, Spinnoff Guided Mountain Biking is in the process of building trails that will be available to our customers by the beginning of June 2007.

We will be running a pilot 'pay to ride scheme' with family riding evenings, freeride evenings and skills coaching sessions throughout the Summer.

The first sections of trail have already been used by the BBC for a children's activity feature which will be shown during the run-up to the Easter holidays.

The aim of the build is to create a unique facility encorporating natural Lake District features and man made elements of dirt and wood within a private, marshalled area. Your activity will then be managed by our qualified, experienced leaders enabling you to experience this unique adventure in the inspiring setting of South Lakeland with full support from a professional team.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED...EXCITING REWARDS

If you have some spare time and energy and you would liketo help create a unique riding experience, please contact us. In return we can give you access to the Holmescales trail once it is ready and an invitation to the opening party which will be the MTB event of the year!
